Ernesto Schiaparelli, an Italian archaeologist, unearthed part of this ancient burial site located in the Valley of the Queens during 1904. He discovered Queen Nefertari's tomb thousands of years after grave robbers plundered it. While he found the tomb empty of all but a single piece of gold and fragments of Nefertari's pink granite sarcophagus, wall paintings describing her journey to the after-life remained. 1 of 8
