A team of ancient artisans created this limestone bas-relief that protects the entrance to Nefertari's resting place in the Valley of the Queens.

Between 1986 and 1992, the Getty Conservation Institute and the Egyptian Antiquities Organization preserved wall paintings in the 3200 year-old tomb of Queen Nefertari. A team of scientists evaluated the geology, hydrology and climate of the site for one year before conservators began preserving the painting that adorn the walls of the tomb.
